History
FRIENDS
Alliance
is
a
human
service
agency
organized
and
managed
by
people
infected
and
affected
by
HIV/AIDS.
The
organization
was
formed
in
1987
when
a
group
of
HIV
positive
individuals,
dissatisfied
with
existing
programs
offered
in
the
community,
united
to
provide
needed
support
services
for
themselves
and
others
that
were
impacted
by
the
spectrum
of
HIV.
Since
then
the
organization
has
grown
into
a
well-rounded
human
service
agency,
with
a
membership
that
is
approaching
300
members.
The
agency
now
provides
advocacy,
information,
and
referral
services.
Services
provided
are
funded
through
Steppin'
Out,
and
through
donations,
fundraising,
and
memorials.
